RAPID INVENTORY OF DANCE IN MONGOLIA
Core of Culture proposes a rapid inventory of Cham (Tsam) dance in Mongolia, the final frontier of Buddhist Cham.
Using ethnographic and surveying methods developed over a decade,
the basic information about Cham at monasteries, festivals, and amongst nomadic groups will be collected
in order to plan a comprehensive documentation and preservation project.
Working closely with Mongolian colleagues and advisors
The results will be compiled, analyzed, and become part of a project proposal to museums
for a public exhibition to tour in the West and beyond.
All the archival material produced will enter the collection of the Dance Division of the New York Public Library at Lincoln Center in New York City.
